ESG Litigation – Tackling Global Issues on National Platforms
6 Jun
11:00 - 12:30
Burges Salmon, Radcliffe Chambers and Pels Rijcken welcome you to join our co-hosted panel discussion exploring the future of global ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) litigation, on Thursday 6th June 2024 at Burges Salmon’s London office. It will be a hybrid event, where we will have availability to join in-person or digitally. Lunch will be served following the event.
The rapid rise of ESG issues in individual, corporate, and governing consciousness has resulted in new legislation and in turn, we are seeing an increase in litigation and other challenges. Both the public and private sectors are now facing a wealth of new risks. The panel discussion will discuss how the challenges and risks can be mitigated and look at the opportunities ESG can deliver globally.
In this session, our panel of experienced litigators and regulatory specialists will discuss themes including:
- What is ESG litigation?
- Global challenges – an overview of international ESG disputes, with a specific focus on successful claims brought in the Netherlands, based on human rights.
- Global opportunities – what the London market looks like, and the lessons it can learn from other jurisdictions.
- ESG litigation & financial services – a detailed look at ESG claims facing those in the financial services sector, drawing out guidance from the UK Courts on issues such as investment, corporate governance and annual reports.
