The Data Centre Lifecycle: Risks, Deals and Disputes

The session will use a hypothetical case study to explore the key commercial, operational, transactional, and disputes-related issues that arise in the lifecycle of a data centre. The Clifford Chance and FTI Consulting panel will pool insights from key stages of the data centre lifecycle – from the negotiation of key contracts and construction to refinancing and upgrade phases – to provide practical recommendations on mitigating common challenges and risks.

Data centres sit at the intersection of many of the key issues of our time: the explosion of AI demand; aging energy infrastructure and the energy transition; cybersecurity and data localisation; and global supply chain constraints. They represent huge opportunities for hyperscalers, investors, contractors and suppliers; but they are also fertile ground for disputes.

This event will be a timely opportunity to hear from practitioners able to draw on their experience of advising on dozens of data centre deals and projects; and to meet colleagues and peers with a shared interest in the sector.
