AI in International Arbitration: Essential Partner or Existential Threat?
3 Jun 16:30 - 18:00
Artificial intelligence is no longer theoretical in the world of international arbitration. It is already influencing document review, witness preparation, legal research, case strategy and award drafting. But what happens when artificial intelligence quietly enters the deliberation room—not as a party, not as counsel, but as an unseen hand shaping the reasoning behind the award? AI is already transforming how disputes are managed, researched, and argued. Yet one important question remains largely unchecked: what happens when the decision-maker starts using it too?
The panel will confront the uncomfortable frontier where technology meets the philosophy of adjudication in international arbitration, and explore the deeper question that the dispute resolution community can no longer afford to ignore: in an age of algorithmic intelligence, what is the irreducible value of human judgment—and are we at risk of quietly giving it away?
