Long-term liabilities in the energy sector
4 Jun 11:30 - 13:00
Liabilities in the energy sector cast a long shadow. Decommissioning obligations which will fall far in the future have a material impact on security and provisioning obligations in the present. On the other side, liability to remediate or compensate for environmental contamination can arise out of events decades in the past. This session will address the legal issues governing long-term liabilities, considering the various commercial contexts in which they arise: including in group actions, indemnity claims, decommissioning disputes, insurance claims and disputes arising out of transactions and acquisitions in the energy sector.
