As part of London International Disputes Week (LIDW), Charles Russell Speechlys, Fountain Court and Azets invite you to a webinar examining the growing importance of follow‑on litigation in the sports sector.

As investment in sport continues to increase, the financial consequences of court and arbitral findings are becoming ever more significant. Recent decisions concerning breaches of financial fair play, unlawful transfer regulations and on‑field sanctions have sharpened the focus on what may follow regulatory enforcement action, and in particular the prospect of consequential third‑party claims.

This webinar will explore how regulatory disputes and decisions can give rise to follow‑on “loss of a chance” claims. The panel will consider the legal principles underpinning such claims, the evidence required to value, advance and defend them, and the practical challenges they present for clubs, advisers, regulators and other stakeholders. Attendees will gain a clear and practical understanding of how these disputes arise in practice and how they are likely to develop as regulatory scrutiny and commercial investment in sport continue to intensify.

Drawing on recent developments across the UK and Europe, the discussion will provide a structured overview of why follow‑on claims may emerge in the near future as a key feature of the sports disputes landscape, and the issues parties should be thinking about when managing regulatory risk and consequential exposure.

This session is intended for disputes practitioners (whether specialising in sports law or otherwise), regulatory lawyers, representatives of clubs and sporting organisations, governing bodies, investors, and others involved in sports‑related matters.
