Freeze, Seize, Pleas: Tackling Fraudsters Across Borders
3 Jun 09:00 - 10:30
When fraudsters move assets, bury documents and flagrantly ignore court orders, ordinary litigation tools are rarely enough. That’s when worldwide freezing injunctions, search and seizure orders (including passport seizure orders) and contempt proceedings come into play, for these are some of the most powerful weapons available in civil litigation.
Join our panel of barristers and solicitors as they explore how these remedies work together in practice to track, restrain and pressure fraudsters operating globally. The panel will draw on recent cases and their first-hand experiences to examine the tactical and procedural considerations, how to anticipate a fraudster's next move, and the pitfalls that can undermine even the strongest application.
For practitioners navigating fast-moving cross-border disputes, this session offers practical insights into how the coercive powers of the Courts of England and Wales can be used to maximum effect to tackle fraudsters, wherever in the world they might be.
