The Evolving Role of Trust and Public Policy in Enforcing Foreign Judgments and Awards During a Period of Global Volatility and Transformation
4 Jun 16:30 - 18:00
The Protection of Trading Interests Act 1980 prevents enforcement of a foreign judgment for multiple damages. This talk will explore the genesis of the 1980 Act and how it interacts with public policy considerations, especially in light of the recent Court of Appeal decision in Motorola Solutions Inc v Hytera Communications Corp Ltd [2025] EWCA Civ 1667. Against that background, the speakers will consider public policy and related issues that touch on the recognition of arbitral awards in England and Wales.
