Navigating the Trump's administration’s international trade law policy – What now?
4 Jun
11:00 - 12:30
Join us for an insightful panel event where experts from the UK, the US, Canada, and the EU will share their perspectives on the Trump administration's international trade law policy, including their views on what the US trade policy is likely to achieve and the implications for businesses. Our panel of experts will also discuss what all this means for the post-war international trade law order, the response, or likely response, of US trading partners, including the relevance of the EU's Anti-Coercion Instrument in this context. Additionally, we will discuss the extent to which dispute resolution mechanisms under bilateral free trade agreements, and bilateral investment treaties may provide adequate remedies for affected businesses, and the steps which businesses should take to deal more effectively with the uncertainty that global trade wars create.
Our panel of experts will be made up of Michael Snarr (partner and co-leader of the International Trade team at Baker Hostetler, Washington DC), Nabila Abdul Malik (partner and International trade and Investment Law specialist at Fasken, Toronto), Stéphanie Noel (WTO negotiations expert at S. Noel Law Office, Geneva), and Totis Kotsonis (partner and head of Trade at Pinsent Masons, London).
The panel discussion will be chaired by Christopher Vajda KC, the UK's last judge at the Court of Justice of the EU.
